We want reliable, clean, and affordable renewable energy across Northern Ontario to ensure communities and households are energy secure. We will promote low-carbon lifestyles and encourage the development of more net-zero buildings across communities.
Climate change is a major international crisis that disproportionately affects Northern communities in Canada. In fact, billions of tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) are released into our atmosphere ever year as a result of fossil fuel production, which has led to environmental degradation, natural disasters, food and water insecurity, and economic disruption. The effects of climate change heighten competition for resources such as land, food, and water, fueling socioeconomic tensions and, increasingly often, leading to mass displacement. We need to reduce our carbon footprint and support the implementation of clean energy sources that don't contribute to planet-warming effects.
